Looking for a free
ISP for an operating system other than Windows? Here's where the
free ISP's stand.
Macintosh
- Some free ISP's have created Mac versions of their software.
Visit the page that lists all of our reviews, and look for an
apple
next to the service name. We'll update this page frequently as
free ISP's continue to release Mac versions.
Linux
- Right now, no major free ISP supports Linux. Freewwweb used
to operate without the need for software, so it was supported
by almost all operating systems, but they've gone out of business.
Netzero has announced that they're working on a Linux version,
and a major net appliance vendor has promised to include Netzero
in their Linux-based net appliance. Unfortunately, the Linux version
is not yet available. Keep an eye on this page, and our Message
Boards for updates.
WebTV
- There is currently no free ISP that supports WebTV. Freewwweb
used to operate without the need for software, so it was supported
by almost all operating systems, but they've gone out of business.
No free ISP has announced that they are actively working on a
version that will work with WebTV.
Other Operating
Systems - Users of Sega Dreamcast, Palm devices, Windows
CE, Pocket PC, and other Internet devices and operating systems
are out of luck. No free ISP has so far announced that they are
working on supporting any device or operating system other than
Windows, Mac, and Linux.
